From a record
The Sliick Docs Generator component is where most documents get made. It sits on a record page, and anyone holding Sliick_Docs_User can use it. If you have never generated a document before, start with Your first document.

Generate a document
Section titled “Generate a document”- Open the record and find the Sliick Docs Generator component.
- Stay on the Template tab, or switch to Bundle to render several templates into one combined PDF.
- Pick from the list. Only templates with an active release for this object appear, and a bundle you have no access to is left out of your list rather than stopping the card from loading.
- Click Generate PDF or Generate Word. If the template enables only one format you see a single button; if it enables both you see a split button and pick at runtime.
- The file appears in the record’s Files related list.
A third tab, Combine PDFs, merges PDFs already on the record rather than generating anything. See Combine a record’s PDFs.
Recent generations
Section titled “Recent generations”Underneath the generator, a list of recent generations keeps itself up to date, with a refresh button when you want it now.
- Each row carries a thumbnail taken from the preview Salesforce makes for the file. One that is still being prepared says so and resolves on its own; one that will never have a preview says that instead.
- A row also carries any warnings raised while the document was produced, so anything that could not be filled or had to be compromised is visible without opening the file.
A record’s full generation history is paged, so a long history stays reachable rather than stopping at the most recent page.
Note: a field that simply has no value on the record is not reported as a warning, because that is data rather than a problem with the template.
If no templates appear
Section titled “If no templates appear”Either no template has an active release for this object, or the template has not been published yet. A template can also be restricted to a particular audience or to particular records. See Folders, visibility and compliance controls, or ask your admin.
