Themes and branding

The org-wide theme is the palette, type scale and spacing every template inherits. Setting it once, before your authors start work, is the difference between consistent documents and thirty templates with thirty shades of blue. You need Sliick_Docs_Admin to change it.

Open the Sliick Docs app from the App Launcher and click Settings. The Brand & theme panel controls the palette every template inherits.

Spacing: tight / normal / spacious4 / 8 / 16 ptThe three named spacing presets every block’s Spacing control uses.

Theme changes take effect the next time a template is published. Existing releases keep the theme they were published with, so historical documents remain reproducible even after a rebrand.

In a template, a colour set as a theme reference (brand.primary, theme.headingColor) tracks the theme; a colour typed as a hex code is a literal one-off and does not. Proofs and previews are compiled with the template’s own theme override, so what you approve is what the template publishes.

Note: bundle Word output uses the org default theme. Single-template Word output honours a per-template theme override. See Word output.

Two things worth knowing about the Settings page

Section titled “Two things worth knowing about the Settings page”
  • Every text or number setting can be reset to its packaged default with one action, and a reset row reads as Inherited, so it is always obvious when a value is coming from the default layer rather than from an override you set.
  • Each card on the page saves and validates its own settings only, so changing a brand colour is never refused because of an unrelated setting elsewhere on the page.
