The image gallery

The image gallery shows every image attached to a record. This page is for anyone who reviews photos as part of their work. To mark an image up, see The photo editor.

Browse the images

The gallery opens in one of two layouts, chosen by your administrator:

• Carousel steps through images one at a time. Click the arrows to move left and right. The image name and its position, for example “3 / 12”, appear below the image.
• Grid shows thumbnails of everything at once. Your administrator sets how many columns and rows you see. Click any image to open it in the photo editor.

If your administrator has set up folder mappings for cloud storage, the file list shows a friendly breadcrumb of the business folder each file belongs to. The breadcrumb is there to read, not to change: ask your administrator if a file is in the wrong folder.

Search

The search bar above the gallery is labelled “Search by name or tags…”.

1. Type a word or part of a file name.
2. The gallery filters itself a moment after you stop typing.
3. Clear the box to see everything again.

Search matches both the file name and any tags on the image.

Tags

Tags are short labels that make images easier to find later, for example “front, exterior, damage”.

1. In carousel mode, go to the image.
2. Below the image name you will see its current tags and an edit (pencil) icon.
3. Click the pencil.
4. Type your tags separated by commas.
5. Click OK.

Note: The tag pencil appears only for images in cloud storage that have version history. If your org stores files in Salesforce, tags are not available.

Add an image

The gallery itself has no upload button. There are two ways to get an image into it:

• Upload it in the file list on the same record. Any image you upload there appears in the gallery automatically. See Add images to a record.
• Attach a file that is already in your org: click the + (Attach existing file) icon in the gallery header and pick the file.

Delete an image

1. Click the image. The photo editor opens.
2. Click Delete at the top of the editor.
3. Confirm.

The image is removed from the gallery, and from the storage location itself, in the same action.

While an image is processing

On cloud storage, a new image is optimised before it can be shown. You may briefly see a Processing image spinner. If something goes wrong you see a Processing failed overlay with a retry option; click it to try again.
