Profile photos
The profile photo component is a quick way to manage a record’s main photo, on a Contact or an Account including Person Accounts. Anyone who works on those records can use it.
View the photo
Section titled “View the photo”The photo appears as soon as you open the record. If nobody has uploaded one, you see a placeholder instead.
Upload or replace the photo
Section titled “Upload or replace the photo”- Open the record page and find the profile photo component.
- Click the edit (pencil) icon in the top-right corner of the component.
- Choose a photo from your computer. Only
.jpg,.jpegand.pngfiles are accepted. - The photo uploads to wherever your org stores files.
| Where your org stores files | Largest photo you can upload | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce | 4 MB | The photo appears straight away. |
| Cloud storage | 25 MB | A brief “processing” state while the photo is resized and thumbnailed, then the photo appears, usually within a few seconds. |
Not sure which applies to you? Ask your administrator, or check the storage badge at the top of the file list on the same record.
Delete the photo
Section titled “Delete the photo”- Find the profile photo component.
- Click the delete (trash) icon.
- The photo is removed and the placeholder returns.
Records linked to a portal user
Section titled “Records linked to a portal user”If the record is linked to an Experience Cloud user, the component shows that person’s portal profile photo and the upload and delete buttons are hidden. The photo is changed in the portal’s own profile settings instead.
Note: If your organisation moves to a different storage location, photos uploaded before the move keep displaying. Nothing is lost.
