3.0.0
Released 25 September 2026. These release notes begin with 3.0.
Before you upgrade
Section titled “Before you upgrade”Publishing
- A PDF goes live only after a proof has made it. If PDF was off at your last proof, make a new proof, then publish.
- A Word template needs a proof before you can publish it. See Proof, publish and versions.
- Republishing a Word template does not change a PDF that is already live. Start a New Draft to pick up the improvements.
Output can look different
- Combined bundles and batches keep each template’s own look. Page numbers restart for each template, and very large ones may be refused.
- A combined PDF bundle cannot include a designed template with PDF turned off. Turn PDF on for it, or remove it.
- Word files now use the branding saved when you published, the same as the PDF, until you publish again.
- Repeat filters now read related records, so some documents may print different rows. See Designed templates.
- Preview on the record page now follows the template’s audience and record settings.
Pictures
- Pictures a PDF cannot show, such as EMF logos, are refused for PDF, with the fix named.
- A Word draft saved before this release must be saved again from Word before its proof shows pictures.
E-signature
- Template Authors can now turn e-signature on. Check who has the
Sliick Docs Template Authorpermission set. - The signer’s email and name must come from fields that can hold an email and a name. If not, publish is refused and names the field to use instead.
Timing
- Upgrade before or with Winter ‘27. Winter ‘27 affected downloads until this release.
Word templates
Section titled “Word templates”- Word templates open in the same editor as designed ones, with one Save button. See Word-file templates.
- A published template now shows as Published, and Word proofs appear in the proofs drawer.
- New Draft now works for Word templates.
- The preview uses the document’s own page size and fits the window.
- Generate preview (.docx) is gone. Generate proof makes every format the template offers.
- A proof also tries the PDF for Word-only templates, and says why if it cannot make one.
Pictures in Word templates
Section titled “Pictures in Word templates”- Everyone, not just the publisher, now sees pictures in a Word template’s PDF.
- Pictures show in proofs, add-in previews and published documents, up to 100 per document.
- A missing picture is now reported instead of leaving a blank gap.
- Old Word 97-2003 pictures now print.
- Blank lines and fill-in rows keep their height in the PDF.
- Existing templates get these changes when you publish them again.
Combined bundles
Section titled “Combined bundles”- Each template keeps its own page size, margins, header, footer, watermark and page numbers. See Multi-template bundles.
- The Word version has one section per template, each with its own header, footer and theme.
- Combined batches work the same way, so each record keeps its cover-page setting.
- Users who are not admins can make a combined Word bundle again.
Designed templates
Section titled “Designed templates”- Repeat filters can compare against a parent record’s field, the main record, an outer repeat or a lookup ID. See Repeats and conditional content.
- Show/hide conditions on a lookup ID now work, and Approvals repeats apply their filter.
- The same related list used at two levels now prints at both. Publish again to pick this up.
- A show/hide condition on a related list outside a repeat is refused when you save, with the fixes named.
- A merge-field problem in a header or footer now says which part it is in.
- The editor keeps what you typed, including while saving and publishing.
- Moving and duplicating blocks inside columns and “else” sections now works.
- Finding fields is quicker, and the + buttons can reach parent fields again.
E-signature
Section titled “E-signature”- Template Authors can turn e-signature on. Other users see the switch greyed out, with a note.
- The signing-fields designer asks before throwing away unsaved work.
- If a signing field’s block was deleted, the designer names it when you open it.
- Deleting a block that has signing fields on it now asks first.
- Recipient pickers offer only fields that suit them.
- A signing field in an “else” section is no longer reported as missing.
- Placed fields are labelled with the same field type names as the palette.
See Setting up a template for signature.
Also in this release
Section titled “Also in this release”- A refused document on the record page now shows a red error.
- A bundle on the record page that was closed half-way through is marked Failed after 24 hours.
- A Word document that was not saved to the record now offers a download.
- The Settings connection card now says who must be pre-authorised when your org restricts the connected app.
Known limitations
Section titled “Known limitations”- Page numbers restart for each template in a combined bundle and each record in a combined batch.
- Bundles always render inside Salesforce, even with premium rendering on.
- A designed template published before this release with PDF off can still give an unproofed PDF if PDF is turned on, until you next publish it.
- Settings screens are not yet translated.
