The Diagnostics tab
Start here for most storage problems. The Diagnostics tab shows the current configuration, processing status, files that are stuck, and recent errors, without needing to query anything.
To open it: open the Sliick Admin app from the App Launcher, go to Storage Settings, and click the Diagnostics tab. It is available to users with the Sliick Files Admin permission set.
What it shows
Section titled “What it shows”| Section | What you get |
|---|---|
| Storage Connection | The active provider, Connection Status (Active, Provisioning, Failed or Not Started), and Authentication (Ready, Missing or Not applicable). It reports readiness only, never a secret |
| Media Processing | Whether processing is enabled, Service Status (Ready, Checking or Failed), the service URL, whether the service key is Ready or Missing, and your resize settings |
| Pipeline Health Check | An on-demand check against the processing service. Shows whether it is reachable, the response code, and the round-trip time |
| File Processing Summary | Counts of pending, complete and failed files, with a staleness warning when the oldest pending file is more than 15 minutes old |
| Pending Files | A table of files stuck in Pending, with file name, content type, provider, parent record and age. Each row has a retry button that re-submits that one file |
| Recent Storage Logs | The last 50 log entries, showing operation, status, file, error message and timestamp |
Why the errors look technical here
Section titled “Why the errors look technical here”The Diagnostics tab deliberately shows the real underlying error rather than a generic “contact your administrator” message. It is admin-only, and the real error is what makes a problem diagnosable.
Uploads succeed but images never appear
Section titled “Uploads succeed but images never appear”This is the most common thing the tab is used for. Work down it in order:
- Pipeline Health Check - click the button. If the service is unreachable, that is your answer.
- Media Processing - confirm it is enabled and the status is Verified.
- Pending Files - look for files stuck in Pending, and use the per-file retry button.
- Recent Storage Logs - check for failed operations and read the error detail.
If the Diagnostics tab itself is not available, contact Sliick support.
