Move files into cloud storage

When your organisation uses an external cloud provider, the file list also shows the record’s plain Salesforce files: ones uploaded through the standard Files related list, or added before Sliick was installed. They carry a Salesforce Files badge. You can download them, and you can move them into the connected storage one at a time.

  1. Open the record and find the badged file in the list.
  2. Open the row’s action menu () and click Move to <your storage>, for example “Move to SharePoint”. It is the only action offered for these rows.
  3. The file is copied into the connected storage. Images go through the usual processing and show a brief Processing state; other files are available immediately.
  4. Once the copy is confirmed, the original Salesforce file is deleted. It stays recoverable from the Salesforce recycle bin for about 15 days.
  • Copy first, delete after. The original is only deleted once the new copy is confirmed in cloud storage. If the original cannot be deleted, for example because you do not own it and lack delete rights, you get a warning: the file was still copied, and an administrator can remove the original manually.
  • Same-name files on SharePoint prompt you to Replace, Keep both, or Cancel, exactly like a fresh upload.
  • One file at a time, in your browser. Keep the tab open while the move runs. Large files transfer in chunks, and files over 4 MB additionally need your administrator to have set up large-file streaming. The error message says exactly this if they have not.
  • Only the latest version moves. Older versions in the Salesforce file’s history are not carried over.
  • Files from a previously connected provider, for example old Amazon S3 files after switching to SharePoint, show their own badge but cannot be moved from the file list. Ask your administrator about the Storage Migration panel for those, and for whole-org moves. See Migrate existing files.
